The connection between body and mind is very strong. The food we eat gives our bodies the “information” to function properly. If we don’t think about this and transform our stomachs into toxin bins, our metabolic processes suffer. This can cause a risk to our weight, health, and even for our mental condition, because we are what we eat.
Every day we forget to look around us, but the answer for healthy life is in front of our eyes. We just need to look deeper in the nature. Actually, the body has the capability to flush out these toxins. In fact, the detox process occur in our bodies on a daily basis, but you can help yourself and make your immune system stronger, in order to help your body to function better.
Nowadays it is not a surprise that many foods help to clean the body’s detoxification organs - liver, kidneys, intestines, etc.
Let’s talk about some of the detox foods that have long-lasting benefits in the body:
Apples - They are rich in Pectin and help to remove radioactive residues from the body. Pectin is a soluble fiber found in many fruits and it’s not a secret that it inhibits prostate cancer. That’s why it is better to eat apples with the peel as the skin of the apple is especially high in pectin. Pectin attracts some molecules and binds to them, making it possible for your body to eliminate them through the urine or feces. Apples have been known as a natural source of antioxidants and the chemical compounds called flavonoids, which are good for the heart. However, be careful when you choose your apple, because sometimes they are treated with high levels of pesticides, so it’s better to find organic ones.
Grapes - The nutrition food value of grapes can help you to improve your health in different ways. They contain a small amount of natural sugar that will give you energy and boost during the day. Grapes are also an excellent source of several different vitamins and nutrients, like Vitamin C, Vitamin B1, Flavonoids, Potassium, Manganese, etc. In general, grapes support a healthy cardiovascular system, enhance arterial flexibility and function, inhibit the oxidation of "bad" LDL cholesterol, and lower blood pressure.
Lemons - Citrus fruits aid the body by flushing out toxins and jump-starting the digestive tract with enzymatic processes. Lemon juice supports the liver in its cleansing processes. The perfect begging of the day is to start in the morning with a warm glass of lemon water. Always use fresh lemons and drink the juice before eating your breakfast. The citric acid in lemons helps maximize enzyme functions, aids digestion, and flushes out unwanted materials and toxins from the body. It encourages the liver to produce bile which is an acid that is required for digestion. Lemons are also high in minerals and vitamins, such as Vitamin C, Vitamin B, Vitamin P, and Carotene. That’s why lemons boost the immune system. They are high in potassium and stimulate brain and nerve function and also help control blood pressure. Lemons help cleanse your body as they are diuretic, i.e. they increase the rate of urination in the body. Lemons balance pH levels, as they are one of the most alkalizing foods for the body. The specific thing about them is that they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they are alkaline. Disease states only occur when the body pH is acidic. Drinking lemon water everyday can help to remove overall acidity in the body. Lemons have many health benefits: help to clear the skin, aid in weight loss, energize you and enhance your mood. Lemon is good to relieve tooth pain and to have a fresh breath. But be careful, because the citric acid can erode tooth enamel. It’s better to brush your teeth first, then drink your lemon water.
Carrots - The nutrition food value of carrots changes depending if you serve them cooked or raw. There is one big difference between the cooked one and the raw one - cooked carrots actually contain more of the antioxidants than raw carrots do. This is because cooking carrots releases these antioxidants. Don’t forget also to add oil when you eat carrots, because the oil helps the absorption of beta-Carotene. Absorption of beta-Carotene is enhanced if eaten with fats, as carotenes are fat soluble. Carrots provide your body with many of the essential vitamins and nutrients that are necessary for the body to function properly. For example Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Potassium, Vitamin B 6, Manganese, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B3, Magnesium, Folate.
Pumpkins - The Pumpkin is very rich in vital antioxidants and vitamins. This is an anti-inflammatory food due to the high content of Pectin. The Pumpkin is good for the large intestine and also may lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels. It helps to reduce stress chemicals in the brain. Pumpkins contain lots of potassium and zinc to prevent the onset of cardiovascular disease and hypertension. Pumpkins and the Vitamin A inside can help protect the eyes from cataracts and degeneration. The high levels of Vitamin C help the immune system and promote healthy skin. They are rich in fibers and can wash out any toxins from the body. At the same time the pulp and the seeds are rich in magnesium which helps to have strong teeth.
